Echinodorus Latifolius (Echinodorus Latifolius Syn. Echinodorus Tenellus)

This is a semi-aquatic species. Its natural habitats are coasts of rivers and lakes, floodplains in North, Central and South Americas.

This is hardy and decorative species which very quickly grows. The plant can be completely or partially submerged and emerged. It has short and thick rhizome with rosulate, intense green, lanceolate leaves on short leaf stems. The leaf blades are about 25 cm long and 1-2 cm wide. The flower stalk is developed only by emerged variant of this species.

It should be planted in the foreground or middle of the aquarium.

It will be dense in optimal conditions. The plant grows slowly and it doesn't want to develop the runners in the water with too low temperature and without nutrients and minerals. The species also pulls in the direction of the lighting when we have too low light. Then it is higher and less compact.

This is spermatophyte plant but in aquarium we reproduce it vegetatively - by the runners.
