Broadleaved Amazon (Echinodorus Bleheri)

This is a semi-aquatic species. Its natural habitats are tropical and subtropical coasts of rivers, creeks, lakes in South and Central Americas.

The plant has short rhizome with rosulate and strong leaves. The leaf stems are up to 25 cm long. The leaf blades are up to 40 cm long. Their colour is green. There is also lot of variants this species which differ each other colour, shape and size of their leaves.

This species should be singly planted in the middle or at the back of the aquarium. It can be about 25 cm wide and it grows quickly. Systematic cutting of its bottom leaves may inhibit its growth.

The plant needs additional fertilization.

This is spermatophyte species but in aquarium we reproduce it vegetatively - by the plantlets (formations of miniaturized plant). These plantlets develop on the underwater flower stalk. The plantlets should be several centimeters long and they should have extensive root system. Then the seedlings will properly grow.
