Beckett's Cryptocoryne (Cryptocoryne Beckettii)
Other names: Beckett's Water Trumpet

Natural habitats this species are subtropical muddy coasts or bottoms of shallow reservoirs: ponds and streams in Sri Lanka. These reservoirs have very soft and slightly acidic water (pH about 6).

The plant has thin rhizome with rosulate leaves on 20 cm leaf stems. The leaf blades is lanceolate with sinuate margins, rounded base and pointed tips which rearward bends. Its colour is from green, olive to brown. This colour depends on type and intensity of the lighting. The plant has thick roots.

It should be planted in the foreground or middle of the aquarium. The plant forms dense clump and it can be 15 cm wide.

This species doesn't like very clean substrate or often its cleaning. So we should plant this species in pot or other cover. This is undemanding and hardy species. It is resistant to slow changes in the environment.

This is spermatophyte plant but in aquarium we reproduce it vegetatively - by the rooted runners.
