This plant belongs to Lythraceae family which comes from tropical and subtropical Africa. This is a mud plant with thick stem which grows horizontally on top of the mud substrate. In aquarium it grows vertically and it reaches up to 50 cm in length. The plant leaves are lance-shaped, pale green on the upper side and darker on the underside. The leaves are about 4 cm long. This species should be planted at the back of the aquarium in loose groups. It needs strong light, gravely substrate, 20-25°C temperature of water which needs to be soft and enriched with carbon dioxide. This is spermatophyte plant and you can breed it from seeds or vegetatively by seedlings from stems with preserved vertices.
