Other names: Red Ammania

This is an aquatic and mud plant. Its natural habitats are African swamps, muddy areas which are periodically flooded by water. This plant has long and strong stem with lance-shaped, sessile leaves which are arranged in pairs opposite each other. Colour of the plant depends on light intensity. It can be green with red borders or intense red. This species should be planted in the middle or at the back of the aquarium in loose groups of several pieces. This plant grows very fast in good conditions (minimum 12 hours of light per day, enriched water and substrate with minerals and nutrients). It can grow above the water surface. This species prefers tank with effective filtration system, clean water. This is spermatophyte plant but in aquarium you breed it vegetatively by seedlings from cut stems.
