Males exhibit spawning colours, fight for the female and protect territory during spawning season. Female lays about 50 eggs within three hours. After spawning she should be removed from the tank. Only male takes care of the eggs, larvae, and fry. The eggs hatch after 2 days and they start to swim 4 days later.
