Mexican Tetra (Astyanax Mexicanus)

Location

This fish lives in subtropics rivers and streams with stony or sandy bottom in Central America. This fish also adapted to live in different habitat in nature: in freshwater reservoirs or in underground reservoir (blind cave fish variant).

Body description

Colour of the fish is silvery-gray. There is a bi-color stripe along whole side of the fish. This stripe reflects light.

Temperament and behaviour

This is a quiet, peaceful and friendly species. You may keep it in a general aquarium in the group. The fish looks good on dark background, dark substrate and dark decorative elements.

Aquarium decoration

This species prefers spacious tanks with space to swim.

Breeding

This is an oviparous species. These fish reproduce in groups.
