These are freshwater fish and they swim in near the water surface. They have various temperament - mostly aggressive. They need to have places to hide like many plants or caves.
This species likes spacious tanks with many places to hide: plants, roots, rocks. Fish may dig in the substrate, so all decorative elements should be attached firmly to the bottom. Plants should be properly protected from digging it out eg. planted in pots. Aquarium should be equipped with sandy substrate and good filtration system. The tank must be cleaned regularly - especially bottom part of the aquarium.
If you think about breeding this fish then you should do this in a separate tank. There should be flat stones in the tank for female to lay eggs. Substrate should consist of sand or fine gravel.
