Breeding Kribensis (Pelvicachromis Pulcher) In The Aquarium

This fish lives in fresh and brackish waters.

Body description

Fish have a brown top of the trunk and dark red belly. Their body is shimmering. There is a dark spots on the dorsal fin and on the caudal fin. Male is larger and his caudal fin has shape similar to arrow. Female has deeply red colour on the belly during the spawning season.

Temperament and behaviour

Temperament of these fish is variable. They may be peaceful and quiet but also they may be aggressive. They are more aggressive and territorial towards their own species during the spawning season. They can fiercely protect their own territories and offspring. You should keep this species with Bushymouth catfish (Ancistrus dolichopterus).

Aquarium decoration

This species likes places to hide, clean water (a partial water changes should be regularly performed), and varied aquarium decorations. It mostly swims at the bottom of the aquarium.

Breeding

These fish are oviparous and they live in pairs. Both - female and male - take care and protect the offspring for a long time. Male protects the territory. The eggs hatch after 3 days and fry starts to swim 5 days later.
