This freshwater fish lives in shallow waterfronts of rivers in tropical Thailand and Burma.
This is small species. Colour of the body is brown-gray with iridescent green or yellow under-side. There are horizontal, opalescent stripes on the sides of the fish. All fins are clear. Colour of the fish depends on light, food and water parameters. Male is more colourful and thinner than female.
This is peaceful, friendly, active and shoal species. Fish prefers to live in a group of several minimum. You should keep this species with other quiet, non-aggressive and similar sizes fish. The fish can be shy and timid when they are kept with big and aggressive species.
This species prefers a spacious tanks which is longer than higher. This aquarium should include dimmed light, a lot of plants at the back, hiding places and space to swim. A substrate and decorative elements should be dark. Water should be clean and partial water exchanges should be regularly done. The fish are sensitive to accumulation of nitrates in the water.
This is an oviparous species. These fish is very easy to breed. Female lays tens of eggs among floating plants. The eggs hatch after few days. The larvae stick to the aquarium glass. The fry starts to swim and feed several days later.
