This is a shoal, peaceful, quiet, friendly and active species. It prefers to swim in the middle water level. You may keep them in a general tank.
The aquarium should include a lot of plants, space to swim and effective filtration system. This species eats algae. You should add sea salt to the water in quantity around 1 teaspoon per every 5 litters of water.
This is live-bearer species - fertilization is internal. The pregnant female can be recognized by a dark pregnant-spot on her bell. You should move pregnant female to a separate aquarium. The gestation period of the fish is around several weeks. The fry (about 100) appears in the tank every 4-6 weeks after this time. The fry starts to swim and feed straight away. This species is often crossed with other species from the same family.
